The Adjustment Bureau Starring: Matt Damon & Emily Blunt March 25, 2011 I went to the movie theatre recently and saw the movie The Adjustment Bureau. I don't know if it was because I didn't really pay attention to the previews I had seen previously or because Matt Damon starred, but I had the impression this movie had a lot in common with the Bourne movies, or that it had to do with a Government Agency trying to steal his identity or try to arrest him for something he didn't do. I wanted to see the film because I regard Emily Blunt as an excellent actor and I also like Matt Damon. Yes folks -- I wanted to see it on the main premise that I liked the stars. But I was pleasantly surprised. Due to the fact I thought of it as a movie about government agencies trying to frame a senator for something he didn't do, I was confused for the first 20 minutes of the movie. Once they explained what was going on, I settled back and enjoyed it immensely. This movie made you think, take notice and pay attention to what is going on. It isn't another mindless drama and as I've mentioned, movies that make you think and pay attention and that most importantly keep your attention are my favorite kind. It's why I loved Inception and Black Swan so much. It was filled with action from start to finish, and thankfully didn't have too much political happenings going on throughout. Matt Damon was at his finest, and Emily Blunt did not disappoint. I highly recommend this film. I give it five thumbs up!

Spotlight: Southern Hospitality

Southern Hospitality - 645 9th Avenue (45th Street)

I love BBQ and so to celebrate my belated birthday my friend Dana took me here. It was my request, actually. I had the BBQ chicken. She had fried chicken and waffles. We split sides of mashed potatoes (which were very good) and mac & cheese. We also got banana pudding for dessert. Dana loves banana pudding and recommends Magnolia Bakery over any other place if you're going to indulge in some. But she liked this one as well (as did I). I liked the vanilla wafers that were crumbled up at the bottom.

I would go back because I love BBQ - not outrageously expensive. And they were out of the red velvet cheesecake which is really what I wanted. They also have stuffed cupcakes.

What should I eat tonight??

I walked down to 1325 Fifth Avenue (111th st). It was such a nice day. Snow tomorrow in NYC, really?? And I went and I got a steak burger. Delicious. And then I got a slice of cheesecake to take home. I loved them both. What I loved most about the cheesecake was the fact I could taste the vanilla. It was really nice low key atmosphere. I recommend it.

Spotlight: Fishtail by David Burke

Located on 135 East 62nd street is Fishtail by David Burke.

He is a name in the food world with restaurants in downtown, midtown and uptown Manhattan. Why did I choose this place when I don't eat fish? It was for a birthday party. But I was super excited to go and I had a great time.

What did I have? I had the chicken ( I tried an oyster... never again). Most of the people who came here come in town cars (not cabs). The restaurant is a townhouse. And it's very cozy and perfect for a party atmosphere.

We had cheesecake lollipops (delicious) and I felt like the New York City housewives could walk in at any minute. That was the crowd. It is expensive, but for those who love seafood it is worth it.

Spotlight: Affaire

Last night I took the 6 train downtown to the East Village. I went with my friend Tami to Affaire.

It's located on 50 Avenue B (btwn 3rd and 4th street).

It's a tapas place - french cuisine. Very affordable. Very cool atmosphere. I did not love the food, but I liked it.

I tried frog legs (tastes like chicken). And the mac & cheese. If you're in the area I would recommend it, but it wouldn't be a first choice (or a place I'd rush back too).

I think it would be cool place just to sit and grab a drink in.

Where to go on vacation?

Just when you think it's spring - the cold comes back like the bitch we named Barbara. Or did the cold ever leave? (Maybe for a day). This winter needs to end. Now.

I want to go away - any suggestions?
France, London, Amsterdam, Mexico, Hawaii are my top choices.

But I'd also love to revisit Seattle. And maybe do Malibu. If you've been on vacation recently and had a great (or even a horrible time) please write in the comment section. I want to hear all about it. We promise we don't bite (well maybe we do on vacation).
